CUSTOM LEATHER GOODS
HANDMADE AT 8,000 FEET COLORADO - U.S.A.
About Let Go Leather
Hello! My name is Melissa Polk. I grew up in the saddle, so learning to repair leather was just part of growing up with horses. My grandpa taught me the basics of leather work when I was just a kid in North Carolina. I used to repair our bridles, halters, plow harnesses, etc. Tooling was something that I learned later and have incorporated it beautifully into my designs.
All of my handmade, custom items are made here in my studio - thus the "HANDMADE AT 8,000 FEET COLORADO - U.S.A."
I want to bring leather working - that vintage, timeless occupation - into this modern day. Each piece is made with lifetimes of knowledge that comes outta nowhere sometimes.
So, how did Let Go Leather get started? I live on Legault Mountain West of Denver at 8,000 feet. Most people have no idea how to pronounce "Legault" (leh-goh) so one day, after naming my new company Legault Mountain Heritage Leather, a mouthful for sure, I dubbed it "Let Go" instead and a leather company was born!
Life is good here on the mountain. I love challenging projects that let me use all my creativity and skills to create one of a kind leather creations. It has been so rewarding to send my creations out into the world and see the pride they bring to their owners. Seeing my custom guitar straps on stage was quite a thrill!
I'm taking this business in a new direction now. I'll be doing away with the store and concentrating on Custom Orders Only. I'll still be doing repairs and attending some shows. But the vast majority of my leather work will be in custom orders.
Thanks to everyone who has purchased my products and helped me build this business! This is a dream business for me and I truly do love what I do.
